We present experimental determinations of partition coefficients for several of the FRTE (Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Zn) and Ga and Ge between basaltic melt and olivine, garnet, pyroxenes, and spinel at 3 GPa. The general electronic configuration of the d-block elements is (n − 1)d 1–10 ns 0–2. Partition coefficients between the major upper-mantle minerals (olivine, clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, spinel and garnet) and silicate melt were precisely measured with laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for V and other selected heterovalent and homovalent elements (Al, P, Ca, Sc, Ti, Cr, Fe, Ga, Y, Zr and Nb).
